Masimanyane hosts Provincial Consultation on Draft National Strategic Plan on GBV and Femicide

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

Masimanyane Women's Rights International hosted a Provincial Consultation workshop in East London to share the first draft of the National Strategic Plan (NSP) on gender-based violence and femicide with key stakeholders in the province.

Stakeholders were also engaged with a view to getting inputs which will strengthen the existing version of the document.

Some of the key stakeholders who attended the workshop included the South African Police Service (SAPS), Department of Health, National Prosecuting Authority, Provincial and National Departments of Social Development, Eastern Cape Office of the Premier, Department of Justice, Buffalo City Metro Municipality, political parties and trade unions.

Group and plenary discussions included addressing the following questions:

  • Is the NSP clear?

  • Is it going in the right direction?

  • What is missing?

  • Is there anything Eastern Cape-specific that needs to be integrated?
