Masimanyane director arrives in Kuala Lumpur to chair IWRAW Asia Pacific Board meeting
Masimanyane Director Dr Lesley Ann Foster has arrived in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, for a series of high-level meetings in her capacity as chair of International Women's Rights Action Watch (IWRAW) Asia Pacific.
IWRAW Asia Pacific drives the advancement of women's human rights by promoting legislation and policy changes with regard to political participation, rights in marriage, violence against women, trafficking reproductive rights, employment and armed conflict, among others.
In addition to a formal Board meeting, Dr Foster will convene and participate in a number of high-level meetings over the next few days to discuss how to adapt and respond to changes in the violence against women sector.
This includes meetings with Savi Bisnath, associate director of the Rutgers University Center for Women’s Global Leadership, as well as an international global advisory committee meeting, which draws together experts of women’s human rights from around the world.
