Justice is served!

Masimanyane welcomes the decision by the National Prosecuting Authority to withdraw charges against a Lady Frere mother who was accused of killing her daughter's rapist.

The woman found three men gang raping her 27-year-old daughter in an abandoned house, and rushed to her aide. Two of the men were injured and the third died, leading to charges being brought against her.

While we welcome the NPA's decision, Masimanyane denounces in the strongest terms the original decision to arrest and charge the mother. It not only overshadowed the rape of her daughter, but diminished this and other horrific instances of violence against women.

Violence against women should not and will not be normalised or accepted.
