Masimanyane engages Fort Hare students

Masimanyane facilitated a lively and informative dialogue on gender-based violence at the University of Fort Hare (UFH) earlier this month.

Masimanyane, in partnership with Bumb’INGOMSO, the UFH Student Counselling Unit and the university's Gender-Based Violence Forum, are collaborating on an initiative to develop strategies with which to tackle sexual and gender-based violence on campus.

The programme also aims to sensitise students to gender-based violence issues and the various resources available to them, including Masimanyane, UFH's Student Counselling Unit (SCU) and the South African Police Service, among others.

"In addition to various discussions around gender-based violence, the UFH dialogue also set out to raise awareness about the Women and Girls’ Safety Audit on campus and to gather volunteers to assist with the audit," Masimanyane communications assistant Xolelwa Pona said.
