The fight for justice for Marikana families continues

Masimanyane hosted a screening of the powerful documentary, 'Strike a Rock' at the Majorie Courtenay Latimer Hall in East London. 'Strike a Rock' tells the story of an activist group of women from Marikana who have been at the forefront of their community’s struggle against poverty and injustice.

Primrose Sonti and Thumeka Magwangqana of Skhala Sonke Womens Organisation, who are leading the campaign for justice for the families of the men killed at Marikana, joined Masimanyane for the screening and led discussion after the screening.

"Their fight is against Lonmin corporation based in the United Kingdom and our government both of whom have not recognised their call for justice and redress," Masimanyane Executive Director Dr Lesley Ann Foster said.

"We were honoured as Masimanyane to host these brave women and to view their documentary with women from the communities in which we work."
